Dr. Frank Fake Lu, PhD

Dr. Lu is an assistant professor at the Binghamton University – SUNY since September 2017. Dr. Lu graduated from Zhejiang University in China with a BS degree in optoelectronics in 2003 and a MS degree in optical engineering in 2006. He received his PhD in Bioengineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with Professor Zhiwei Huang in 2010. He completed his postdoc training at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital with Professors X. Sunney Xie, Nathalie Y.R. Agar, and Alexandra J. Golby (2012 – 2017). In 2015, he received the NIH K99/R00 award. Dr. Lu was an Instructor in Neurosurgery at the Harvard Medical School from 2016 to 2017. At Binghamton University, Dr. Lu’s research focuses on developing novel optical spectroscopy and imaging technologies for biomedical applications. In parallel with the research, Dr. Lu is teaching three BME courses: Bioimaging, Optical Instrumentation & Biomedical Applications, and Biothermodynamics.
